STATEMENT OF FAITH

STATEMENT OF FAITH

  1.  We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as being verbally and completely inerrant in the original writings and of supreme and final authority in faith and life.  (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 119)

  2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Gen.1:26, Deut.6:4, Matthew 3:16,17; John 1:1-3; Romans 3:29,30; 1 Cor. 12, 2 Cor. 13, Eph. 2:18)

  3. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is fully God and fully man.  The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father as promised to convict the world of sin, to glorify Jesus and to transform the lives of believers into the likeness of Christ.  (John 1:1; 10:30, 20:28; Acts 9:20, 1 Cor. 15; Phil.2:5-11, John 14, 16)

  4. We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, become sinners in thought, word and deed. (Gen.1-3, Romans 3:10,23; 5:8, 6-8, Isaiah 53:6, Gal.3:22)

  5. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are redeemed and justified on the ground of His shed blood. We believe in salvation through grace by faith. (John 3:16, James 2:1, I John 2:1,2; Hebrews 1:8, 7:25, 8:1, 9:15, 9:24, Eph.1:19-21; 2:8,9; Acts 4:12, 16:31)

  6. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven and His present life for us as High Priest and Advocate.  (Romans 8, Hebrews)

  7. We believe in “that Blessed Hope,” that  personal, visible and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, yet the time of His Rapture of His bride is unrevealed but coming soon and after which the righteous judgment of God will be made manifest.  (Matthew 24:29-31, John 14:1-6, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Thess. 4:13-18, Revelation 21, 22)

  8. We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, a relationship in which they are eternally secure.  (John 1:12, Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 8:29-31;12:4,5; Gal. 5:13-15; Phil. 2:15, Col.1:18, John 10:28,29)

  9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost along with Satan and the other fallen angels.  It is by the power of the blood of the Lamb, the Holy Spirit, the armor of God and the word of our testimony that we overcome the world, the flesh, the devil and gain eternal life and heaven.  (Isa.14:12-15, Eph.6:11-18, Matthew 4:4, 7, 10, 25:41; Luke 10:18, 1 Cor. 10:13, 2 Cor. 4:3,4, 11:14; Col.2:15, Heb.2:14, 1 Peter 1:5, 5:8, 1 John 5:4)

  10. We believe that the Church is a spiritual organism and the bride of Christ made up of all believers in Christ, that in its local presence it is an autonomous assembly of believers that observe baptism and the Lord’s Supper; being built up by the spiritual gifts and ministry of every believer in the unity of Christ, being careful to not be a stumbling block. (John 17, Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Cor. 1:10-13, 8:9, 12:13-27; Romans 12, Eph.4:2-3, 5:11-12, Gal.5:1, 16, 2 Cor. 6:14-18, Rom.15:2)
